“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
(Mark 10:14)
Our work is led by the Board of Faith Formation, the Minister of Children and Families and many wonderful volunteers and teachers.
Sunday School
Sunday School is offered most weeks September-June for ages Pre-K-8th grade. Through songs, games, and activities, we explore major bible stories and themes of God’s love, justice, and community. Children begin with their families in the sanctuary and are invited to Sunday School after the children’s message, which occurs about 15 minutes into the service. After Sunday School, Children rejoin their families in worship during the last hymn.
We offer professional childcare for all children 4 years and under in the nursery from 9:50 AM until the end of worship. Most children this age are dropped in the nursery before worship, though some parents prefer to bring their children to the sanctuary for the beginning of worship and walk their children to the nursery after the children’s message, which takes place about 15 minutes into the service.
Snack & Crafts
After worship, we host unstructured community time for kids of all ages in the youth room downstairs from 11:30-1:00pm. Children might choose to build forts with couch cushions, play board games or ping pong, make cards for their friends, or invent a new game! Two adults are present with the children so that parents are able to socialize or attend church meetings. Parents must sign their children into Snack & Craft after worship.
Play Group
About once per month, we host a playgroup for babies and toddlers about ages 4 and under and their caregivers. To be added to the email list for this group, contact katy@uccmilton.org.
Baptism
At United Congregational Church, we practice baptism at every age, including infants, youth and adults, and arrangements are made with the Pastors in all cases. We welcome sponsors or godparents, though they are not required.
